Description:

: A MEISSEN EWER MADE FOR THE OTTOMAN MARKET, GERMANY, CIRCA 1780
Germany, circa 1780

Description:
Porcelain, of elegant baluster form with a long spout, pronounced handle, and domed lid, richly decorated with European floral sprays and Ottoman-inspired arabesques. The body is adorned with garlands of pink, red, and yellow blooms, complemented by raised green and gilt fluting to the lower section. The handle and spout are delicately gilded, terminating in stylised foliate accents.

Made by the famed Meissen manufactory, this piece was produced specifically for export to the Ottoman market, which developed a taste for European porcelain in the 18th century. The hybrid design merges Rococo European decoration with the form and visual vocabulary of Ottoman metalwork, reflecting the vibrant cross-cultural exchanges of the period.
