Description:

AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE OTTOMAN JADE CUP SET WITH RUBIES & TURQUOISE
Turkey, 17th Century
With Gold and Silver Inlays

Description:
This exquisite and diminutive jade cup epitomizes the refined taste and opulence of the Ottoman court in the 17th century. Carved from a single piece of green jade, the cup is lavishly adorned with inset rubies and turquoise in floral motifs, each surrounded by delicate gold petals and connected by silver-inlaid vines. The rim of the cup is overlaid with a chased gold band bearing a subtle foliate pattern, adding a regal touch.

The design exemplifies imperial luxury, most likely made for a member of the Ottoman elite or even the Sultan’s inner circle. The use of precious and semi-precious materials speaks to the high level of craftsmanship from the palace workshops, possibly related to objects produced in the Enderun (Imperial Palace School).

  • Comes with a custom-made fitted box

Dimensions:

  • Diameter: 6.5 cm

  • Height: 4 cm

Remarks:
This piece is exceedingly rare for its size and delicate execution. The mixture of jade with rubies, turquoise, and precious metal inlay mirrors both Central Asian and Mughal influences while maintaining a distinctly Ottoman aesthetic. A true collector's item and museum-quality artifact.
