Description:

PART TWENTY-FOUR (24) OF SAHIH IMAM MUSLIM IBN AL-HAJJAJ
Written in Valencia, Andalusia, 580AH / 1184AD

Description:
An important and rare Andalusian manuscript containing the twenty-fourth part of the Sahih of Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj (d. 875 AD), one of the most authoritative collections of hadith in Sunni Islam. Written in elegant Maghribi script on smooth parchment, this manuscript originates from Valencia in the region of al-Andalus (Islamic Spain), during the late 6th century AH.

The manuscript comprises 22 folios and reflects regional Andalusian calligraphic and codicological features, with clear rubrication in red ink to denote hadith chains (isnad) and key subject headings. The text maintains traditional layout with ample margins and neatly ruled lines, showcasing the scholarly tradition and high-quality craftsmanship of the Andalusian scriptoria of the time.

This portion of the Sahih includes significant hadiths covering legal, ritual, and ethical themes, as preserved through rigorous chains of narration. Manuscripts of individual ajza’ (sections) are often all that survive from early collections, making this a particularly valuable witness to the textual transmission of Muslim’s hadith collection.
