Description:

A PAIR OF OTTOMAN SILVER DISHES, WITH ASSOCIATED TUGHRA, 19TH CENTURY, TURKEY

A PAIR OF OTTOMAN SILVER FOOTED DISHES, 19TH CENTURY
Ottoman Empire, 19th century

Description:
A fine pair of Ottoman silver footed dishes, each with a scalloped rim and raised on three elegantly shaped legs. The interiors are chased with concentric circular motifs forming delicate geometric patterns, while the exteriors remain plain, allowing the detailed workmanship to shine. The central boss in each dish is slightly raised, possibly to support small vessels or as part of a ritual function.

These dishes were likely used in ceremonial or aristocratic domestic settings to present sweets or delicacies during important occasions. The footed base design speaks to Ottoman preferences for elevating serving ware from surfaces for both visual prominence and symbolic refinement.

Dimensions: 15.5cm Diameter,  350g

Provenance:
Private French collection
