THE CREATIVE SUMMARY OF THE BOOK "AL-MU'UNAH FI AL-FIQH AL-MALIKI", 16TH CENTURY

Description:

Arabic manuscript on cream paper, written in black and red ink in a fine maghribi hand, this is a scholarly digest of the jurisprudential work al-Mu'unah fi al-Fiqh al-Maliki, a key text in the Maliki school of Islamic law. The script is neat and compact, arranged in a consistent, carefully spaced format. Text divisions are indicated with rubrication and decorative markers in red. The manuscript is bound in a traditional dark brown Moroccan leather binding with blind-stamped central medallion and simple tooled borders. The text shows signs of active use, with occasional marginalia, moisture staining, and thumb wear, suggesting it served as a practical legal reference.

Note:
The Maliki school, prevalent in North and West Africa as well as Al-Andalus, emphasized tradition and local practice. Works like al-Mu'unah were vital for scholars and qadis (judges) in interpreting Islamic law. The script and format suggest the manuscript was produced by a professional scribe. Its practical wear and signs of handling further enhance its historical value as a working legal text.
